How to enter

To enter, submit your recipe with the ingredient list and a picture along with your name and email address.

Alter Eco Americas is not responsible for lost, misdirected or delayed entries.

Entries received by telephone, or personal delivery will not be accepted.

Alter Eco has the right to reject any recipe submitted if it does not comply with the published guidelines.

Entries must be submitted by the original chef. Do not submit a recipe taken from someone other than you. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any recipe submitted. Your submission of the recipe is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo. In addition, by entering, Contestants represent and warrant that the entries that they submit (i) do not infringe any other person’s or entity’s rights.

Contest rules

The contest is only open to legal residents of the fifty United States (including D.C.) who are at least 21 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of Alter Eco Americas, its contest sponsor, advertising and promotional agencies and their respective affiliates and associates and such employees’ immediate family members and persons with whom such employees are domiciled are excluded from this contest but can add recipes of their composition.

Anyone can post recipes but only residents of the fifty United States (including D.C.) who are at least 21 years of age or older at time of entry can win prizes.

In accepting the prize, the winner, and any guest(s), acknowledges that Alter Eco may not be held liable for any loss, damages or injury associated with accepting or using this prize(s).

Alter Eco retains the rights, in its absolute and sole discretion, to make substitutions of equivalent kind or approximate value in the event of the unavailability of any prize or component of the prize for any reason whatsoever.

This contest is subject to all federal and state laws.

Alter Eco reserves the right to withdraw or terminate this contest at any time without prior notice.

By entering a contest entrants agree to be bound by and abide by the contest rules and the decisions of Alter Eco, which shall be final and binding with respects to all aspects of the contest, including and without limitation the eligibility of entries.

Ownership/Use Rights

By entering a recipe, Contestants agree to have their submitted recipe displayed on Alter Eco website without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that Alter Eco may display winning recipes in their newsletter, blogs, press releases, and other communication channels at their discretion, and may make and retain copies of the recipe for archival purposes.

By claiming the prize, the winner authorizes the use, without additional compensation of his or her name and recipe for promotion and/or advertising purposes in any manner and in any medium which Alter Eco may deem appropriate.

PUBLIC VIEWING/VOTING:

Subject to these Official Rules, all submitted Entries will be posted to the Alter Eco website for public viewing and voting/blogging. Public voting/blogging is not only for entertainment purposes and will have an impact on the official scoring. Users may vote for a same recipe once. Users are allowed one vote per recipe.

At the end of the Users Judging Period, the ten (10) Submissions with the best rates will be considered the Top-10 Semi-Finalists (the “User-Rated Semi-Finalists”). At the end of the Users Judging Period, Alter Eco will judge the 10 semi finalist.

JUDGING:

At the conclusion of the voting Phase, qualified judges, whose decisions regarding the Contest and related matters are final and binding, will select the potential winners based upon the following JUDGING CRITERIA:

% of Fair Trade ingredients used,

% of organic products used

% of local products used.

Quality of the recipe

Originality of the recipe

Clear explanation of the recipe

Limit:

Each Contestant may enter as many recipes as he/she wants from the opening of the Cookbook.

Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address.

In the event that Alter Eco is not able to contact a winner within five (5) days of the issuance of a notification email, the selected entry will be deemed to be null and void along with any rights to the prize and another entry will be selected from the remaining eligible candidates.

Alter Eco does not guarantee the result and quality of the recipes published on its website. Alter Eco does not guarantee the recipes will meet the expectations of website viewers and the results is exact or reliable.

Alter Eco is not responsible for error or omissions made in a recipe (text, information, pictures) published on the website.

You cannot add hyperlinks for other website or companies in your recipe

Alter Eco is not responsible for something downloaded from its website. The user is the only one responsible. Alter Eco is not responsible if there is damage on the user’s computer and data.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest runs between 12:00 AM Central Time (“CT”) on October the 15th and 11:59 PM CT on November the 14th.

PRIZES

FIVE (5) GRAND PRIZES: Alter Eco gift basket (value of 50$) with 10 trees planted on your behalf in Peruvian Amazonian forest, in Acopagro coop.

FIVE (5) 2^nd PRIZES: Alter Eco gift basket (value of 30$).

The prize is not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded.

Limitations of Liability: Alter Eco, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent corporations, and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents, and any and all Internet servers and access provider(s) are not responsible for: any incorrect or inaccurate entry information; human error; technical malfunctions; failures, omission, interruption, deletion, or defect of any telephone network, computer online systems, computer equipment, server providers, or software, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in this Contest; inability to access the Website; theft, tampering, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries; transactions that are processed late or incorrectly or are incomplete or lost due to computer or electronic malfunction or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site; printing or human or other errors; and any entries which are late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, stolen, mutilated, illegible or postage due, or any combination thereof. Proof of mailing, in person submission, or online submission is not considered proof of delivery or receipt.

Rules/Winners List: To receive a winners’ list or an additional copy of these Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: “Alter Eco  2325 3^rd Street, suite 226, San Francisco, CA 94107. Please specify “Rules Request” on front of envelope. The winners’ list will be available on www.altereco-usa.com after October, the 31st, 2009.
